It was a day most special in the life of Fr. Alfred John Pinto, a Paladka Parishioner and the present Parish Priest of Kumbla Church. He was ordained priest in 1982 and after 25 years he came to the main altar in a procession along with other priests and parishioners to thank God for all the good he has done in Fr. Alfred’s life.
There were total seven priests including the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Norbert Lobo. The day was also special to Fathima Ward members as they assembled together to celebrate their feast. Their choir and liturgy truly highlighted the importance of the occasion. Sr. Celestine D’Souza of Mount Rosary Convent-Alangar played music during the mass. Fr. Willaim Barboza, Professor-St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore delivered a truly meaningful homily in which he narrated the life of a priest and how Fr. Alfred has followed Christ in all these 25 years.
Fr. Alfred was honoured on behalf of the Paladka Parishioners in a short stage function after the mass. Parish Council Vice-President, Mr. Vincent Sequeira read out the Letter of Honour and the Parish Priest honoured the silver Jubilee priest with shawl, fruits and flowers. Parish Council Secretary, Mr. Denis D’Mello comepered the function.
Fr. Alfred thanked all those who have helped him to celebrate the silver Jubilee of his priesthood. Tea-party was arranged for the gathering by Fr. Alfred’s family.
