Mangalore Diocesan YCS village life experience camp was inaugurated on 21st April 2014 at 6.30pm at Church mini hall.
The programme was presided over by Parish Priest Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues. Fr. Vernan Vas, Moodbidri Deanery YCS director was the chief guest. Fr. Edwin Correa, Diocesan Director, Vice President of Parish pastoral parishad Mr. Denis D’mello, Secretary of Parish pastoral Parishad Mr. Vincent Pinto, YCS Deanery animator Smt. Pauline D’Souza, YCS Diocesan president Clyde D’Souza, secretary Lindon Nazareth, deanery president Praful D’souza and unit president Vishwas Pinto were on the dais.
The programme began with a prayer by YCS Paladka unit members.YCS Diocesan President Clyde D’Souza welcomed the guests and participants.
YCS Director Fr. Edwin Correa in his introduction said that in this camp participants have to stay with the local families. There they will get new environment and new experience. They may get less or more facilities than their own houses. Till noon they will be in the families and in the afternoon they will have activities at the church. It is an opportunity to develop their talents.
Fr. Vernan Vas, the chief guest Inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. In his message he shared his experience of Honkong eating Chinese food and communicating with Chinese speaking people.
Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues in his Presidential address explained about the local environment. 20 families have come forward to give them accommodation. He said that now a days each one has their own personal articles such as room, bed, laptop, mobile etc. But in this camp participants have to share the facilities. They have to learn to live with others.
Mr. Lindon Nazareth, Diocesan YCS secretary proposed vote of thanks. Miss Michelle D’Souza was the M.C. of the programme.
