Mangalore Diocesan YCS village life experience camp was held at Paladka Church premises from 21st April 2014 to 25th April 2014.

The programme was Inaugurated on 21st April at 6.30pm at Church mini hall. The programme was presided over by Parish Priest Fr. Ivan Michael Rodrigues. Fr. Vernan Vas, Moodbidri Deanery YCS director was the chief guest. Fr. Edwin Correa, Diocesan Director, Vice President of Parish pastoral parishad Mr. Denis D’mello, Secretary of Parish pastoral parishad Mr. Vincent Pinto, YCS Deanery animator Smt. Pauline D’Souza, YCS Diocesan president Clyde D’Souza, secretary Lindon Nazareth, Deanery President Praful D’souza and unit president Vishwas Pinto were on the dais.

After the Inauguration Mr. Norbert Misquith conducted many icebreaking activities and divided the participants into four groups. After the supper the students were sent to 15 nearby houses to stay and have village life experience.

Next day on 22nd April the participants returned to the church at 1.30pm after doing work at the houses they stayed. After the lunch Fr. Charles Menezes, National YCS Director gave talk on ‘Importance of labour’. His message was “Hard work leads to success”.

After tea many games were arranged as an entertainment. At 7.30pm all gathered near the Grotto for Rosary. After having supper participants left for the houses of stay.

On 23rd after doing work at houses of stay participants again gathered at Church premises at 1pm. After lunch Mr. John D’Silva, animator of Siddakatte unit spoke on leadership qualities. After evening tea there were entertainment games. After Rosary and supper the participants went to their respective houses of stay.

On 24th as usual participants gathered at Church premises at 1pm. After lunch at 2pm ICYM Director Fr. Ronald D’Souza explained about problems faced by the students. He gave opportunity for discussion.

At 6.30pm entertainment programmes were presented by four groups of participants. This was followed by stage programme. All those who supported and co-operated in the success of camp were honoured with mementoes.

Camp fire was arranged after supper. Director Fr. Edwin Correa lit the candle from the camp fire. All participants candles were lit from this candle.

On 25th Friday all participants joined in holy Eucharistic celebration. After breakfast evaluation of camp was done. Then participants left for their native places.
